Iniciativa Brasileiros em Western Pennsylvania - cadastrem-se!!!

Este questionário visa obter informações sobre os brasileiros RESIDENTES na região de Western Pennsylvania e que tenham pelo menos UM MEMBRO BRASILEIRO na familia. Os dados obtidos serão usados EXCLUSIVAMENTE para o planejamento de programas locais dedicados à promoção da língua portuguesa, cultura brasileira e possivelmente futuros serviços que possam melhorar as condições das famílias brasileiras (de dupla nacionalidade, também!) na região. Saber quem somos é um primeiro passo para o sucesso dessa iniciativa.

Uma primeira vitoria foi a vinda do Consulado Itinerante pela primeira vez a Pittsburgh, o que ajudou muitos da nossa comunidade a economizar muito tempo e dinheiro.  Por favor, preencham o questionario e enviem para Livia (o email dela esta incluido no final do questionario).

Pittsburgh Fashion Week will host their Walk Out Of The Heels Of Pittsburgh Charity Walk   -  PAWW
Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 8am – 12pm

The walk will take place at Schenley Plaza in Oakland in front of The Carnegie Library Main Branch.
PFW is pleased to invite YOU, for just $10 to register, come and support Pennsylvannia Women Work for the first ever “Out of the Heels of Pittsburgh” charity walk. Through our partnership with PAWW, we have the ambitious goal of collecting at least 100 pairs of shoes, preferably new or gently worn, and appropriate for business. So, get in gear to walk in your shoes for the last time. (please bring an extra pair of shoes to go home in). We look forward seeing you there!

Lavagem da 46 em Nova Iorque com Margareth Menezes

The Lavagem da 46 Rua or Cleansing of 46th street in 2010, much bigger and highly acclaimed, will feature its Grand Marshal Margareth Menezes and new popular folkloric festivities from various parts of Brazil.

Activities pertaining to the State of Bahia will take center stage and blend with rhythms and cultural manifestations of several other states of the Federation portraying rhythms of Maracatu, Samba and Frevo.

The traditional “baianas” will be the main attraction of the Lavagem. They will be dressed in white colors, adorned with beads and carrying rosaries and flowers.
They will also carry white jars and vases filled with perfumed water, energizing the various groups in the parade throughout Little Brazil (46th Street).

This opening event of the Brazilian Day will bring several attractions to the stage to be located on 46th Street between Madison and 5th Avenue. The audience will be introduced to dignitaries, sponsors and representatives who made the event possible.

Then the stage will be opened to Brazilian bands, featuring world renowned artists and local artists, samba dancers, games involving crowd participation and the exciting 3rd annual pageant “Musa do Brazilian Day,” in which the audience will be the judges.

Festival: 12pm to 6pm

Please arrive by 10:00am for the line-up of the baianas, drummers, dancers and participants with the official T-Shirts.

Start: 44th Street and Avenue of the Americas (6th Avenue).

End: 46th Street at Madison Avenue

Festival: 46th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenue

Activities: Free Shows, food stands with typical northern dishes (moquecas, acarajes, abaras, vatapa) also artesian crafts, paintings and everything that the Northeast of Brazil and Brazil as a whole has to offer.
