About

The word “arrepiar” means to get goose bumps. It’s that great emotion that good things in life make you feel!  You will see that word often in our site. We believe in the great spirit and positive energy of the Brazilian people and hope to share that with the lovely people of Pittsburgh! Stick with us and you, too, will feel some “arrepios”or “chills!”

Our mission:

To become part of Pittsburgh’s multicultural spectrum of colors and create a cross-cultural channel of communications and resources to maintain a vibrant Brazilian presence in our community.

Our History:

The Brazilian community in Pittsburgh has been growing but has remained very spread out, making the communications a bit challenging.  This site was born in the summer of 2004 to replace Carla Leininger’s email distribution list.  The intention was to put the communications at the reach of all community members and to organize the activities in a way that would be visible to any visitor or interested party. It also became the host of the archived Brazilian Radio shows. The site is an interactive channel between you and all the events that are taking place in our area.  By becoming a member you will have an opportunity to learn about traditional Brazilian events in Pittsburgh and about what is happening in our country.  You will also learn about other members and organizations that are, somehow, connected to Brazil.  Welcome to the “Arrepia, Brasil!” Community.

Estamos ligados no Brasil! We are in tune with Brazil!
